The most common concern that we hear from volunteers is that helping other people with their taxes is daunting and that they don’t have the skills to assist others with tax filing. We say, no way! With training and the willingness to learn, we’ll make sure you are supported before the tax season gets started and at your site once you start working directly with taxpayers. Whether you are brand new, have some experience working on your own returns, or are a professional, we have the training options that ensure you are ready to succeed!
All volunteers must pass a short Standards of Conduct exam and volunteer tax preparers are required to certify through the IRS using their online Link and Learn program. New volunteers are also highly encouraged to attend in-person training at their site or through the county where they volunteer. More information about training options will be provided after you register as a volunteer and sign up for a site.
